Before the battle
Ramsay offered terms for Jon's surrender:
Sansa should be given to him
Jon must bends the knee and acknowledges Ramsay as the Lord of Winterfell.

The Battle

The Stark forces deployed near a tree line. They want to prevent themselves from being attacked from behind.

The Bolton army is using burning flayed corpses in an effort to demoralize enemy troops.

Ramsay insists from Rickon to run to Jon across the battlefield. The boy runs, and on a half way, Ramsay's arrow shot is killing him almost instantly.

Jon charges full tilt at the Bolton forces. It is a trap for him. He is saved by the arrival of his cavalry

The battle becomes a bloody storm of swords.

Ramsay orders archers to fire on both the Stark and his own forces

Ramsay sends forward his remaining forces.

The Boltons manage to surround the Stark's army and close them in with a shield phalanx.

Suddenly, a war horn sounds off in the distance.

Around the battlefield appears a large mounted group of the knights of the Vale, led by Lord Baelish, Lady Sansa.
-
With the Ramsay’s phalanx facing inward towards the Stark's forces, the Vale knights are able to attack the enemy on the undefended side

Ramsay's phalanx is quickly wiping away

The Stark's forces are free again

Ramsay decides to retreat to Winterfell

Stark's forces kill all Bolton men remaining in the castle.

Ramsay is locked as a prisoner in the kennels

The Direwolf banner is raised above Winterfell for the first time in three years.
Ramsay Bolton: "You can't kill me. I'm part of you now."
Sansa Stark: "Your words will disappear. Your house will disappear. Your name will disappear. All memory of you will disappear."

Ramsay Bolton is devoured alive by his own dogs
Epilogue
The newly restored Great House is now in the hands of an illegitimate son and an eldest daughter.
In the books
In the A Song of Ice and Fire novels, no such battle has taken place yet. The fifth and most recent novel, A Dance with Dragons, ends with Stannis Baratheon still marching against Winterfell and Jon is dead.
